Here’s a picture someone took of me at my mother’s funeral in February 2011.
This is the day in the year I get REALLY lazy – way lazier even than Ask Roger Anything, which will happen again soon enough – when I write almost nothing for my birthday.Ā
I love it when my birthday falls on Friday or Monday for that nifty three-day weekend since I’ve taken it off from work for at least two decades. Although it doesn’t matter if it falls on Saturday or Sunday, because I’ll STILL take off Friday or Monday. Maybe I’ll see a movie matinee and/or go out for an Indian food buffet.
How will I remember how old I am this year? Easy. ROGER Maris hit 61 Home runs for the New York Yankees in 1961, eclipsing Babe Ruth’s record. Of course, Maris’ record was demolished in the Steroid Era by Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, and Sammy Sosa. But I still remember Roger’s achievement.
Then there’s that Dylan song.
Bye until tomorrow.
Listen to my theme song.
Happy Birthday, young fella.
That is such a neat song – and green is truly my favourite colour! Have a great day and weekend!
Happy Birthday, Roger!
Happy birthday, old man! š
I wished you a happy birthday on Facebook, so it’s official. This is a courtesy visit…..HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I love your theme song. š I think everyone should get their birthday off work as a paid holiday!
Ahhh, you are now in the numbers where if a basketball player scores that many points, they officially had an awesome game. Happy birthday!
Great shot of you. Happy Birthday to you! I hope you have a great year ahead. You’re 4 1/2 years older than I am which is probably why so many of the references in your posts resonate with me. I mean “talking bout my generation” as it were. I’m listening to the Dylan song you linked as I write this. I could pop on the vinyl of that song too, actually I think I have it on CD too.
I posted “Happy birthday” and it never posted! š Happy birthday again!
OMG how is it possible to get that old?
Ah, shaddup, Dan. MAYBE, if you’re nice, you’ll make it too.
Congratulations on another turn around the sun. Interesting how we can give such powerful meaning to anniversaries, cutting up the flow of time into segments as if today you were in some meaningful way different from yesterday, but tomorrow will have less change associated with it. Why do you think that is? Particularly when we hit birth anniversaries that end in 5 or 0 it can appear “a very big deal”. Whatever meaning you give to your birthday, may it be blessed.
Mostly because I still prefer my trip around the sun to NOT making it.
