eXude eXcitement
I think that, as I’ve gotten older, the thing about Christmas that excites me has changed. For one thing, “stuff” doesn’t have the same impact; not that I don’t love my Hess trucks, or whatever else I get. What I’ve discovered, though, that the more items you have, the more you have to deal with.
eXpectation
What I DO love, though, is the Daughter’s feeling of anticipation about the holiday. Watching her enthusiasm is actually better than my own feelings.
eXplore
That said, I appreciate the opportunity to sing music of the season, mostly familiar, but some not.
eXplanation
And even though the Christmas eve service is pretty much the “same” every year, it always manages to feel brand new.
eXtra special day
So I wish for you and yours, a happy/merry/joyous holiday.
eXtreme eXhaustion
And I hope you leave the wrapping paper on the floor, or the dirty dishes in the sink, a little longer today.

The Bells of Christmas by Julie Andrews, from an old Firestone Presents album that I still own. My first favorite popular Christmas song. (And my album pretty much sounds like this one!)
Getting Ready For Christmas Day by Paul Simon. Most recent favorite pop Christmas song. Built around a sample of pastor J.M. Gates preaching in 1941,
A film: The Night Before Christmas 1913 – Ladislas Starewitch
I too LOVE seeing the excitement through my kids’ eyes – that truly is the BEST gift of all. Enjoy the rest of the holiday and thank you for spreading that excitement to us.
Merry Xmas, Roger! I agree that my eXpectations have changed, too. I get more eXcited watching the reactions from the people to whom I’ve given gifts and I get so much more pleasure from their pleasure. I don’t jump up Xmas morning ready to open presents but lie in bed longer enjoying the anticipation of it all. Hope your day eXceeded all eXpectations for you and your family.

You mentioned the sink and I made a quick glance at my wok filled with yesterday’s spaghetti sauce… off to the dishes after the online a’ neighboring. With you though on your daughter’s enthusiasm for the holiday. Love it when kids behave that way. Have a wonderful Christmas week.
did I tell u this fondest story of my family, I must have been 6, my bro 8. Dad bought a short chain of lights that looked exactly like yours. It didn’t blink, my bro stood by the switch and turned on and off. Dad told him off, and he is 60, we always tell that story.
Merry Christmas!
Oh yes I’ve enjoyed my sing-along to Christmas music, although others may not have done, LOL. What an interesting 1913 film.
Wishing you and your family a most joyous Christmas season
Truer words were never said, Roger. Although, even though the present under our tree are far less than what they used to be, we still enjoy it just as much. With less stuff to deal with! Actually, my husband and I decided a couple of years ago that we would buy what we would like to get and the other would wrap it. It makes us giggle and laugh during the process and we find that we don’t buy unnecessary things. I love the split hake brushes my husband got me this year! LOL-he never would’ve known that I want/need them. It works out surprisingly well and it still exciting and fun.
Great post for X ~ children are what Christmas is about ~ excitement ~ I love the lights of Xmas ~
Happy Holidays ^_^

I think the real Christmas feeling you only have when you are a child ! When you have to decorate the tree yourself and play Father Christmas, it’s not the same anymore !
Merry Christmas! Thank you for your friendship in the blogosphere. You are always so gracious and kind with your words in your comments. I hope you and yours had a wonderfully blessed Christmas.
Lovely rambling post!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
eXcited about your sharing video! I had never heard it. I share your thoughts. Christmas Vigil Mass, with a children’s choir, usually has tiny surprises. The recessional song “Go Tell It on the Mountain” made the children eXude with joy!
happy 2nd day of Christmas!
I’m the same way in terms of what has meaning changing but music is always a constant for me. I hope you and your family had a good Christmas and will have a healthy happy new year ahead.
Ordinary Words…you have wrapped it up nicely♫♪
Christmas is really more about our Children’s excitement. It’s a joy to see them exudes with happiness!
