The Vox piece on the death of the old internet pretty much mirrors my experience. I first started blogging in 2005, and the internet is so different now. That old community feeling of blogging is long gone, and most of the people I met through it have abandoned their blogs. I think about this a lot, and how much more negative and mean the internet used to be (and I used to be). I wondered if it was just me, getting older, but the article has a very interesting perspective about how commodification has changed things.
Actually, Bill Wyman the music writer is not Bill Wyman the Stones bassist. There was legal wrangling over this. Bill Wyman the Stones bassist, it turns out, was christened William George Perks.
